Intro

Are you looking for an exciting vehicle to add to your garage this year? Toyota and Lexus have many excellent choices. They of course offer many conservative, bread and butter models, but they also have something for every type of enthusiast. Whether you are looking for a sports car, truck, or an SUV you will find that Toyota and Lexus have something that will put a smile on your face. We took a look at the current crop of models that will be on sale this calendar year -- which means we'll be featuring 2024 and 2025 models -- and picked out the ten most exciting models. We then listed them in MSRP order, starting with the least expensive. Prices do not include delivery, processing, and handling fees. Keep on reading to enter a world of driving excitement.

10. Toyota GR 86 ($29,300)

For fun on a budget, it is tough to beat the Toyota GR 86. With just 228 horsepower and a 0 to 60 mph time over 6 seconds, it isn’t going to knock your socks off in straight line acceleration. But a sports car is about more than just straight-line acceleration. The GR 86 is well-balanced, tossable, and, with a slick manual transmission, is ball of fun. Add a few options, and you are still less than $35,000 for a really fun sports car.

9. Toyota GR Corolla ($36,500)

Need a little more space and speed than what the GR 86 can offer but you still want a fun car that you can enjoy on a track day or on your favorite back road? Oh, and do you still want to keep the price under $40K (well, assuming you can find an honest dealership)? The GR Corolla is the car for you. The four-door hatchback is a little AWD rally car smile machine. The tiny G16E-GTS 1.6L turbocharged 3-cylinder somehow manages to squeeze out 300 horsepower. You get a 6-speed manual transmission, and you can practice your heel and toe technique on the track thanks to the complimentary 1-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association.

8. Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Manual ($55,400)

As the price climbs so does the power output. The 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine in the Supra puts out a healthy 382 horsepower. The 0 to 60 time drops to under 4 seconds. And you can still get a manual transmission. Sure, there are a lot of BMW parts in this car, especially in the interior and that bummed out some Supra purists. But Toyota designed and engineered a good chunk of what you see, visually, and experience while driving. Regardless of its underpinnings, however, boil the GR Supra down to its essence and you have a fantastic performance machine. We urge you to buy one now because it won’t be long before Toyota puts this car out to pasture, and we may never see a non-EV Supra again.

7. Toyota Land Cruiser 1958 ($55,950)

And now for something completely different. The Toyota Land Cruiser 1958 will not be able to keep up with any of the first three cars on our list on a racetrack. But on a sandy beach or a muddy trail the Land Cruiser will show you a good time while the other cars will have you calling AAA. Toyota took the Land Cruiser back to its off-road roots. No longer is it a bloated luxury machine bought by wealthy suburbanites and used to take little Timmy to soccer practice. The Land Cruiser 1958 is about pure off-road fun. The price has been slashed compared to the previous generation, and the luxury content is down. But it is as capable as ever and will be a wonderful travel partner for you on any adventure.

6. 2025 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro ($60,000 – Estimated)

For the first time in 250 years, Toyota has come out with a new generation 4Runner! Okay, so maybe it has only been 15 years, but in the car world that is a LONG time between updates. The new sixth-generation 4Runner comes with a whole host of upgrades inside and out. The engines are new, more powerful and more efficient. The styling is new, the technology is new. But it is still a 4Runner. And the 4Runner just might be the most beloved model in the entire Toyota lineup.

5. Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance ($60,020)

Ah. A naturally aspirated 5.0L V8 engine is just good for the soul. Sadly, they will not be around for much longer, but Lexus still offers a peach of one in several models. The IS 500 is one of them. This sport sedan offers room for the whole family, but performance for you. It's not the newest sports sedan on the market, and the interior could use a refresh. But that's also what makes it special... The very last naturally aspirated V8-powered sedan in the world. If you can only have one car to shuttle around the family, while offering up driving thrills, you need to try the IS 500.

4. Lexus RC F ($68,295)

Have the kids moved out of the house? Well, if you no longer have the need for a 4-door and you like the IS 500, you are going to love the RC F. It uses the same engine and shares quite a bit with the IS 500. But the RC F is a more fun-focused 2-door coupe. Lexus also offers a Track Edition of the RC F, but it is substantially more expensive than the base car. And the performance difference between the two is not substantial enough to justify the higher cost. So, strap yourself into a regular RC F today and have a blast. (Just make sure you upgrade to the Michelin tires option.)

3. Lexus GX 550 Overtrail ($69,250)

The GX 550 is the newest generation of GX and Lexus looks to have a hit on their hands. The vehicle is extensively updated from the previous generation inside, outside, and under the hood. But one of the most compelling aspects of the new GX is the new Overtrail model. The Overtrail reduces seating capacity from seven to five. But, in exchange, you get some additional off-road goodies for your overlanding adventures. The Overtrail comes standard with E-KDSS, electronically controlled locking rear differential, crawl control, downhill assist control, and multi-terrain select. This costs $10,000 more than a base Land Cruiser, but we think it's worth it for the added overall refinement, smoother suspensions, and the more powerful twin-turbo 3.4L V6.

2. Toyota Tundra TRD Pro ($72,130)

The second most expensive vehicle on this list is a Toyota pickup truck. Who would have ever thought? But there is a good reason for that. This truck is good-looking, hard-working, and fun. With the TRD Pro you get the i-Force MAX 3.4L Turbo V6 good for 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. That is enough grunt to tow over 11,000 pounds and a maximum payload rating of 1,600 pounds. Plenty of both for most people. You also get unique styling highlighted by the TRD Pro matte-black forged-aluminum BBS wheels. There is also an electronic locking rear differential and an off-road suspension with FOX shocks. Think of this as the pickup version of the Lexus GX 550 Overtrail turned up a few notches. It's an absolute blast to drive on-road and off.

1. Lexus LC 500 Convertible ($107,300)

At over six-figures, the Lexus LC 500 Convertible is by far the most expensive vehicle on our list. But it is also the most special. It has stunning concept car looks, one of the best-sounding V8 engines anywhere on the planet, and you can drop the top. Putting the top down in any vehicle always ups the fun factor. We have said it many times before, but it is worth repeating again. This will be a future collectible car. When Lexus stops building these, people are going to finally realize, just how great these cars were. Get yourself into one now.
