Toyota Century

The name Century commemorates the birthday of Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of the Toyota corporation. The first generation was offered with a V8 engine, and the second generation was offered with a V12 engine. However, for 2018, they reverted back to a V8 and integrated a Toyota Hybrid system. Our subject of discussion here is one stance culture enthusiast's take on the Japanese classic.

Pure Luxury

When you come across the Toyota Century, you're taken aback by its simple yet elegant presence. Ever since the 1960s, politicians, industry titans, and people of power were found regularly driving or being driven in these Japanese limos. People who saw this car saw success.

Enter N-Style

Nagahama-san of N-Style owns a body shop where he creates all sort of monstrosities that are meant to do one thing: burn rubber, sideways. For this build, he chose a vehicle that is built for the exact opposite purpose of slaying tires at a circuit. The specimen, in this case, is a G50 Century. This was the one built between 1997-2016 equipped with a 5.0L V12.

Abnormal V12

In this example, the owner has painted the engine bay covers a tan color, but you can catch a glimpse of a badge reading "5-speed". But wait, how is this possible? This generation of Centuries initially came equipped with a 4-speed automatic, until a 6-speed "intelligent" transmission arrived in 2005. This mad scientist tracked down an adaptor plate from New Zealand and fitted an R154 5-speed as you would find in a Supra or Soarer. It seems there are no other serious modifications done to this motor aside from 2 cone filters. On its own, the 5.0-liter 1GZ-FE produces 276hp.

Luxury Ground Clearance

The G50s came equipped with air ride suspension. This car has a controller installed to bypass the stock setup and adjust ride height. Additionally, a YouZealand Super Stroke Up kit is used. This kit is designed especially for cars running air suspension to allow ride height lowering while keeping that luxury limo feeling in full effect. The shoes were a classy Japanese set of Work Meister M1Rs, 19×9.5-inch +7 at the front and 19×10.5-inch +5 at the rear. All in all, the vehicle retains most of its luxury class and appeal, but now has a whole lot of newfound attitude.
