Toyota Fortuner Gets Lexus-Style Makeover

Well Executed

The concept of jazzing up a lower trim or less expensive vehicle to look like a nicer one is nothing new, and in fact, has stuck around the automotive world for a very long time now. Some obviously don't like this kind of practice, but folks continue to do it, regardless. However, this very interesting Toyota Fortuner Lexus "conversion" completed by the folks at Autorounders in India is executed well enough that many would never even know.

Getting Old

The Fortuner has been around since 2004, and since it's built on the same platform as the legendary Hilux, it has developed a reputation for being tough, capable, and incredibly reliable. Thus, there are many of them on the streets of India, though early examples are beginning to look a little dated. That's precisely why custom body kits are becoming so incredibly popular there, however.

New Bodywork

To transform this particular Type 2 Fortuner, the team at Autorounders gives it an extensive list of upgrades including a fully Lexus conversion kit that consists of a replacement front bumper, grille, headlights, taillights, rear bumper, and rear diffuser. They also repainted the SUV in its original shade of pearl white, which freshens it up even further. However, they also left the Toyota badges in place rather than swapping them out with Lexus units.

New Rollers

After adding all of those new exterior styling updates, it wouldn't have made much sense to continue to roll on stock wheels and tires, so Autorounders upgraded those as well. Now, the SUV rolls on a fresh set of 20-inch wheels wrapped with new tires, which gives it a sportier, more luxurious look.

Luxurious Cabin

As one might imagine, Autorounders didn't leave the interior alone, either. There, they went to town customizing the cabin by adding premium leather everywhere, a list that includes the custom-made seat covers, which give the SUV's insides a major visual and comfort upgrade.

Tech Updates

Aside from premium materials, the interior has also been treated to ambient lighting, a starlight headliner, a large touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, a dash cam, Focal speakers, and floor mats from 7D, all of which help make what was once a basic Toyota interior something far more luxurious and modern.

Impressive Transformation

It's an impressive transformation for sure, but then again, that's pretty much what we've come to expect from Autorounders. It's also a great example of the ingenuity that stems from the desire to drive something a bit nicer, especially when your options are limited in that regard.
