Toyota Unveils 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon Builds

The Tokyo Auto Salon, for those unfamiliar, is the Japanese equivalent of the SEMA Show. It is an exciting showcase for manufacturers and Japanese automakers to get involved each year by bringing their own custom builds for display. This year, with the ongoing battle with the global pandemic, the show will not be taking place in person. 

Toyota's Entries

For that reason, manufacturers have started to unveil their concepts online. Toyota recently showed off three custom-built participants for the TAS. Of course, the go-to Toyota vehicle for a cool custom build is the GR Supra. And the company is showing off yet another modified Supra at the TAS. This one comes with some visual modifications as well as dampened braces for the front and rear of the car to give it more structural rigidity. This suspension upgrade is said to result in better ride quality and improved steering feel.

A Sporty Mirai

Next up is this Toyota Mirai Modellista with styling upgrades. The body kit consists of additions to the front and rear bumper covers, as well as side skirts. The visual mods give the hydrogen-powered Toyota a lower, more aggressive stance. And the wheels nicely compliment the sporty look.

Modified GR Yaris

Toyota is also showing off a modified version of their new GR Yaris. The new hot hatch has gained quite a bit of popularity among enthusiasts. Sadly, the GR Yaris isn't set for a US debut. But for the European and Asian markets, there's a lot to look forward to with this little rocket. Other than the exterior updates, not much is known yet about this custom GR Yaris.

Yaris Cross Body Kit

And lastly, the Modellista Yaris Cross Advanced Robust Style is on virtual display from Toyota. What you see here are only visual modifications to the Toyota crossover. This model is also limited to Europe and Asia at the moment. The Tokyo Auto Salon begins on January 15th. We could be seeing more cars unveiled by that date. Stay tuned!
