Tasty Details

We've known for quite some time now that Toyota planned on building a special version of the Supra for privateer racers. What we didn't know were the many details behind this awesome offering - until now. Toyota has finally given us all the tasty tibbits behind its race-ready GR Supra GT4, and it's more than enough to make you want to start shopping for a new helmet.

More Power

The first and most interesting detail you'll want to know is, of course, how much power this thing makes. Toyota managed to coax 430hp and 479 lb-ft of torque out of the Supra's 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, thanks to an Akrapovič exhaust system and a special tune. For those counting at home, that's a full 95 hp more than the road-going Supra.

Banging Gears

Everything else on the engine remains the same, including the single twin-scroll turbocharger. All of that power is sent through a seven-speed automatic transmission, which is controlled via paddle shifters, back to a mechanical limited-slip differential. This transmission is obviously quite different from the street-legal Supra's ZF eight-speed automatic.

Stop and Go

The GR Supra GT4 utilizes six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers to bring it all to a halt. Like the street Supra, the GT4 rides on a strut front suspension and a multilink rear suspension. But instead of regular dampers, it has a special set of KWs at all four corners.

Lightweight Warrior

Thanks in part to a lightweight steel body, the GT4 weighs in at a svelte 2,976 pounds. OZ wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires aid the handling cause as well, and there's a high strength steel cage in the cabin to protect you in case you push things too far.

All Business

The interior of the GR Supra GT4 is your typical all-business race car as well. You'll find things like an FIA-standard racing seat with a six-point harness, a carbon-fiber instrument cluster with an 8.0-inch digital display, a data logger, and a fire extinguisher.

Optional Goodies

Of course, there are several optional goodies you can add to your racing Supra if you wish as well. They include a rearview camera, tire pressure monitoring, illuminated exterior numbers, suspension travel sensors, a drink fee system, and a homologated endurance package.

Pay the Cost

So the only thing left to ask is, what will all of this awesome racing goodness cost you? Here in the U.S., expect to pay just over $194,000 without adding on any extras. But for a turnkey racer that's eligible for an awesome series, that's a small price to pay, we'd say.
