Jazzy ES

The Lexus ES has received some very subtle changes for the 2022 model year. With that in mind, the sedan is still not the most exciting looking offering in the market. That's why the TRD division has decided to carefully design a number of visual upgrades for the car, adding some youth and pizzazz in the process.

Modest Body Kit

The body kit consists of a number of sporty parts, all of which can be had individually, or as a complete set. At the front, TRD has given the ES a chin spoiler, extending the face slightly lower to the ground. The same language is continued with the side skirts and the upgraded rear diffusor. A restyled set of 19 or 20-inch wheels is available to complete the sporty look.

Quad Tailpipes

There's also the option of adding sport mufflers, which replaces the trapezoidal look of the tailpipes with round quad pipes. This new look at the rear has some resemblance to the Camry XSE, unsurprisingly. It's worth noting that the sport mufflers are a requirement with the TRD diffusor. Though there's no info on whether this custom setup adds any power or a different sound.

More Aesthetic Than Performance

Our guess would be that these modifications are more on the cosmetic end of the spectrum than performance. With that said, the TRD kit does include underbody braces, which are meant to improve stability and handling. There's no sign of a rear wing or spoiler, and appropriately so. The final items on the list of TRD upgrades are aerodynamic side mirror covers.

Limited to Japan For Now

The TRD team has managed to spruce up the look of the ES without going too far with the sporty bits. Some would argue the ES is fine the way it is. But for those who want their Lexus ES to display a bit more of a sporty personality, the items from the TRD kit should do the trick. At the moment, though, the kit is only available for the Japanese market. We'll have to wait and see if the manufacturer sees fit to sell TRD bits for the 2022 Lexus ES in other markets.
