We All Could Use a Trip on a Lexus Spaceship Right About Now

Whenever we reach the point where space travel is something we do on the daily, we might just be driving a Lexus there, too.

Space Travel

Ever since Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon (and well before that), many people have dreamed of space travel. And while we aren't quite to the point where we're all taking hyper speed taxis to Mars just yet, we imagine that day will eventually come. And when it does, Lexus has a few ideas about what we'll be driving up there. In fact, they came up with a total of seven different designs by five designers for Document Journal‘s latest Lunar Design Portfolio.

Zero Gravity

The first concept, shown here, is dubbed "Zero Gravity," designed by Karl Dujardin. The concept reimagines Lexus' signature spindle grille by turning it into an entire vehicle with motorcycle-like architecture. The rider is able to cruise smoothly throughout space at speeds upwards of 300 miles-per-hour, according to Lexus.

Lexus Cosmos

The next concept, "Lexus Cosmos" by Jean-Baptiste Henry, is a transportation vehicle designed both for open space and lunar travel. It features a fully sculpted glass shape that doubles as an observatory, allowing passengers to enjoy the view. The idea here is to create a luxurious and exclusive experience for space travel, which makes it more than deserving of the Lexus badge.

Bouncing Moon Roller

The Bouncing Moon Roller, created by Julien Marie, is protected by a flexible graphene nanotube-based bubble. This structure allows the space roller to jump and roll at any angle over a wide range of terrain. Inside of the gyroscope cell lies both the cockpit and batteries and a wheel-like stabilizer creates a fun yet protected experience.

Lexus Lunar Cruiser

The Lexus Lunar Cruiser was created by Keisuke Matsuno as a multipurpose vehicle for land and sky use on the moon. It features large tires designed to smooth out rough lunar terrain, which can also rotate 90 degrees to allow the cruiser to fly like a drone. The cabin itself features an organic design, as does the exterior, which prominently features Lexus' signature spindle.

Lexus Lunar Mission

The Lexus Lunar Mission was designed by Yung Presciutti to allow people to reach and walk on the moon themselves. Featuring a liquid side body design, the Lunar Mission is capable of reflecting the universe while flying to the moon. And of course, the wings were designed to mimic the Lexus spindle.

Lexus Moon Racer

The Lexus Moon Racer, designed by Yung Presciutti, is dedicated to the varied peaks of the lunar surface. The recreational vehicle is designed for one person, who is looking to test out the low-gravity properties of the moon. The Moon Racer allows this lucky driver to jump, climb, and roll over any lunar surface with ease.

Lexus Lunar

The Lexus Lunar, also created by Yung Presciutti, is a large transport vehicle designed to haul groups of people across the moon's surface. The six-wheeler is designed to be a rugged off-road type vehicle capable of going anywhere. And the top part is even detachable so that it can become a makeshift colony if so desired.
