1. Young Buyers

Obviously, the funky and futuristic design of the UX will appeal to young buyers. Lexus themselves have confirmed that these are the folks they had in mind when designing the compact crossover, so that much is no surprise. The luxury automaker already sells two models that appeal to young car buyers - the IS and the CT, so adding a smaller SUV as a third option makes a lot of sense.

2. Small Families

For upstart families looking for something more upscale than your average boring SUV, the UX might be just the vehicle they're looking for. It should be affordably priced, and there's still seating for four. Plus, there's just enough cargo space in the back to stow some groceries. And as their families grow, buyers can trade it in for an NX or RX.

3. City Dwellers

Parking in major metropolitan areas doesn't lend itself well to larger vehicles, and neither do narrow city streets or traffic jams. That's part of the reason why people who live in cities are flocking to tiny SUV's like the UX. Many of these folks need a car that can do it all, but one that is smartly packaged to minimize external dimensions and make navigating city streets a snap.

4. Upstart Professionals

For young professionals just getting started in the business world, luxury automobiles have always been necessary for making a solid first impression. But with buyers today leaning away from sedans and toward crossovers and SUV's, Lexus needed a new entry level ride to satisfy those changing trends. The UX should fill that void nicely, and it certainly fits the bill as a vehicle with real presence.

5. People who want to downsize without compromise

There's a reason why the compact SUV market is the hottest segment out there right now. As we've seen in recent years with people selling their giant houses and moving into smaller ones, downsizing is a very popular trend. But customers don't want to compromise things like comfort, space, and driving position just to go smaller. The UX is designed with those things in mind, with comfy seats, smart packaging, and loads of convenience features. The days of small cars existing as merely stripped-down econoboxes are long gone.
