Wicked Nebula Gray GS F Packs Lots of JDM Goodies

You don't see a ton of modified Lexus GS Fs out there in the world, and this gorgeous example will have you wondering why.

Overlooked but Worthy

For whatever reason, the Lexus GS F has long been an overlooked performance sedan, despite its glorious drivetrain and handsome looks. These cars also offer up plenty of appeal in terms of modifications, as is clearly on display with this 2016 GS F owned by Brandon Choi. Thankfully, Super Street knows a good Lexus when they see one, and recently brought us a full feature on this drool worth machine.

Low Key

One of the things that drew Choi to the GS F in the first place is just how understated it is. "The reason for the car and the color is not to stand out," he explained to Super Street. "I always loved being low key. I like being a sleeper and try to be humble. I still have people mistake my car for an F Sport." Obviously, he isn't fooling us, of course.

Like a Superhero

Choi also saw fit to nickname his Nebula Gray beauty after the Guardians of the Galaxy character of the same name, which seems appropriate in this case. "When I drove the car, I was in love. 5.0L V8, raw engine, raspy exhaust, that red interior," he waxed poetically. She has superhuman strength, agility, and durability, just like the character."

Tom's Everything

Of course, even a stock GS F can be made better with the right parts. In this case, that means a bunch of Tom's components. The legendary JDM brand supplied the car's carbon mirror covers, B-pillars, fender garnish, rear diffuser, intake, steering wheel, and push button start. And Choi isn't finished adding them yet, either.

Future Plans

"Most of the parts are Tom's, minus the exhaust, mid-pipe, and coilovers, but realized I need to stick with TOM's, as it does not disappoint when it comes to fitment and quality," Choi said. Thus, the plan moving forward is to also add a carbon heat shield, some titanium bolts/clamps, and headers.

One Brand

Right now, the GS F has a couple of parts from other manufacturers, including a GReddy exhaust and RS-R coilovers. The idea behind sticking with one brand moving forward is to emulate the sort of build you'd see at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Which makes perfect sense to us. It doesn't hurt that we love everything Tom's makes, of course.

Truly Deserving

Choi's GS F is most certainly a cool build, filled with a host of carefully selected parts that only complement the stock ride's awesomeness. But most importantly, it also reminds us that the GS F deserves more attention. Even if it is a bit understated compared to the competition, that definitely isn't a bad thing.
