What Is It?

This limited edition color is back for the first time in over 15 years! The color is called Naples Yellow and it will mainly be available in Europe and Japan before (hopefully) coming to America. The color was originally introduced on the LC coupe but will now trickle down to the GS, GS F, RC F Sport, and RC F Performance Coupe. The color is extremely unique; blending together a hint of orange and bright yellow to make it stand out from the boring pool of dark-colored Mercedes and BMWs.

As good as this color looks, it will not add any horsepower or performance goodies. You will, however, get matching Naples Yellow brake calipers!

The Last Yellow Lexus

I think we all remember what the last Lexus to come out in Yellow was called. The LFA supercar from back in 2012 was offered in a different shade of yellow called Pearl Yellow. Now, Pearl Yellow Examples of the LFA are among the most expensive ones to buy. A quick search on CarGurus.com will illustrate the argument. There are white and black examples of the LFA with fewer miles that go for less than their Pearl peer. Seems that people want their LFA supercar in yellow!

Just a recap: the LFA made 553 hp and 354 lb-ft from its howling, masterpiece of a 4.8 L V-8. Some say it's the best sounding engine note ever to grace the road.

Color Confirmation

The color hasn't been confirmed in either the European market or the US but the people over at TheDrive.com are certain we will hear more news about it later in June.

Seeing as car culture loves wacky colors or any excuse to stand out, Lexus will most likely bring this color to most of their markets. Competitors such as Audi, BMW, and Mercedes all bring similar wacky colors to their arsenal of fun. Audi makes a special green color, BMW has baby blue and orange, and Mercedes has a plethora of matte colors as well as an AMG yellow. There's no reason to not bring the color overseas!

Other Colors

By no means is Lexus boring when it comes to colors. They offer two bright colors that are sure to grab one's attention.

One of the colors is Molten Pearl which is a sort of gloss, lightly-shaded, orange. It has been available ever since the RC F coupe came out a few years back.

The other color (which happens to look the best on all Lexuses) is Ultrasonic Blue Mica. It is the metallic, deep-blue finish. It's a lot more subtle and elegant than the Molten Pearl and looks absolutely stunning in the sunlight.

Whichever choice you go with, you will not regret it!

GS F and RC F

Here's a quick refresh on the two "F" Performance models:

The GS F is powered by a massive 5.0 L V-8 engine that produces 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque. When all the GS's competitors went turbocharged like the E 63, M5, and RS6, the Lexus stuck to its guns and kept a bombastic, high-revving, naturally-aspirated motor. It's the highlight of the car and truly makes the driving experience a worthwhile one.

The RC F is similar to the GS F in that it kept its naturally-aspirated motor despite current trends. The C 63, M3, and RS5 are all aided by forced induction (similar to the bigger estate versions) which makes the RC F stand out from the bunch. The RC F is powered by the same 5.0 L V-8 that is in the GS F and makes identical power figures. The 0-60 sprint for the RC F is dealt with in 4.3 seconds thanks to its 8-speed automatic transmission.
